New to the Buying Team: Courtney!

New Buyer Blog: Courtney Dorsey

We have been having so much fun getting to know the newest members of our Home Office buying team! Today we have the pleasure of introducing you to Courtney Dorsey, our newest Junior’s Assistant Buyer. Courtney helps to keep us on the front-line of fashion in Juniors Tops & Dresses, and we are so excited to have her on our team. She knows the needs our average customer on a personal level because she grew up in Bethalto, Illinois. Courtney also graduated from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville with a Business Management Degree, and has always had a love for fashion. With her small-town background, and her edgy personal style, she was the perfect missing piece for our buying team, and we already love what she’s been able to add to our sales floors!

Courtney got her big start in the fashion world at the Wild Heart Boutique where she worked as their Store Manager. When their boutique closed its doors, we just HAD to have her as a part of our Edwardsville store team! After no time at all, she was promoted to our Juniors buying team at the beginning of 2020. Courtney told us that she was thankful for her time in our Edwardsville Glik’s store because it helped her understand all sides of the business. Interacting with the customers also helped her grasp our unique Midwest customers’ style even better than she did before. She is excited to buy in an area that she is passionate about as well as getting to learn more about the business side of things. She was invited to go to WWD MAGIC in February of this year, which was her first show! Even though the size of the event was a little overwhelming, being paired with one of our best Junior's Buyers, Johnna Durbin, helped her feel comfortable and confident. Her favorite part about the trip was being able to meet vendors face to face and getting to see and touch the garments she would be buying for spring!
