Yes, you read that correctly. Zoom has a hidden feature that will give you a fresh-faced look on the days when you have an important video-conference, or your crush is on the other end of the screen. We’re here to tell you how to find it and use it! On the bottom when you click to turn your video on, you should see an arrow that will open a little toolbar with a few options. At this step, select, “Video Settings…” then another screen will pop up. At this screen, you’ll just need to check the box next to, “Touch up my appearance.”

How to Touch up your appearance on Zoom

Voila! Now your face looks smooth, and your flyaway hairs will be invisible. This is the perfect little tip for those of us that like to rock the easy, breezy, roll-right-out-of-bed look rather than use any Maybelline in the morning.

Changing the background on Zoom

Now, you’ve probably seen it everywhere that people are changing up the background on their side of the Zoom call. You might be asking yourself, “How are they doing this??” Well, it’s super easy! Here’s what you do: Just go to that same arrow where we started the previous steps, and when you see that toolbar, this time click “Choose a Virtual Background.” It will take you to the same pop up, but this time you’ll find yourself in the Virtual Background tab. Down below your own video, you will see a button that says, “Add Image.” After clicking that, you’ll be able to browse your device for any photo that you want to show up behind you!

Virtual Background for Zoom

Now, don’t let the checked box at the bottom worry you, you do NOT need a green screen in order to make this work. Just make sure to place yourself in front of a solid colored wall/background that is a different color from your skin and the clothes you are wearing and this should work perfectly for you. As soon as you select your photo, Zoom will preview what your video experience should look like so you can check it out before taking it live. Now you can video call from anywhere as long as you have a photo of it to upload! We took the liberty of providing you with a couple backgrounds below, so please feel free to save and share any of these images so you and your friends can create a fun Zoom experience during your next call!

We hope these tips and tricks added some fun to your Zoom experience. Also, these steps were completed on the Desktop version of this platform. If you are using the Zoom app on your iPhone, you can access all these features by clicking the three dots that say, “More,” on the bottom right. The touch-up mode is within “Meeting Settings” and you can easily change your background on your phone by tapping into the “Virtual Background” area and uploading a photo. The mobile version functions much better for these features than desktop in our opinion, but they’re both are super fun! Now, go have fun on your next Zoom call showing off your brand-new skills. & if you have a lot of down time in between your video calls, treat yourself to some online retail therapy by shopping our new arrivals by clicking here.
