Ladies, for those of you who are scrambling around trying to decide what to wear to impress your man (or your Galentines), we’ve picked out a few outfits for you!

Dressy & Flirty

everly romper

How darling is this Everly Clothing Plaid Romper?! This just screams class and makes us wish we had every item of clothing in Cher Horowitz’s (cue Clueless reference) closet! This romper has a self-tie design on the front with an encased elastic waistband to define your shape.  The flowy fit and neutral coloring of this outfit makes it super easy to dress up or down! To dress it up for Valentine’s Day, pair this romper with the Qupid Shoes Chamber Woven Peep Toe Heels in Black.

everly purple

Also from Everly, this simple shift dress with bell sleeves makes our hearts happy! The purple pastel color gives your wardrobe that pop of Spring and puts a little pep in your step.  If you’re heading to a fancy dinner or romantic getaway, this dress is for you! Since the design is so simple, it gives you room to put your own twist on how you decide to accessorize! We went ahead and paired the dress with this oh-so-versatile pair of Qupid Shoes Chamber Distressed Strappy Heels in Taupe!

CUTE & Cozy

salmon twist back

This is a completely biased opinion, but we believe EVERY WOMAN needs a twist back sweater in her wardrobe, like this one from Miracle Clothing! It is so elegant and cozy all in one.  The twist back detail takes this chunky knit sweater to the next level.  It is perfect for casual cute evenings with your man, or out to dinner and drinks with your girlfriends! If pink isn’t your color, don’t worry! This sweater comes in multiple colors 🙂  Pair this sweater with a pair of peep toe booties, like these from Qupid Shoes, and your favorite accessories and you’ll be good to go!

pearl cardigan

If you want to kick things up a notch, add some delicate detailed pearls to your outfit!  The long line silhouette, bubble sleeves, and pearl details bring a feminine touch to your overall facade.  Pairing this cardigan with some blown out denim, like these KanCan Jeans, will dress your look down a bit.  The best thing about cozy cardigans is being able to dress them up or down! Depending on the look you are trying to achieve, finish this outfit with a pair of ankle booties or a pair of Converse sneakers!

Laid Back & Casual

vanilla bay

Now, if your plan for Valentine’s Day revolves around watching your favorite RomComs (Love Actually and The Proposal, we’re talking to you) and indulging in chocolate covered strawberries with your besties (or if you and your man boycott V-Day) this outfit is for you! This simple color block tee from Vanilla Bay, distressed denim, and Converse is a look that you will wear on repeat each season.  Laid back styles that are also cute and fashionable are what we LIVE for!

sherpa

Does your date night involve the outdoors? Don’t stress over what to wear! Throw on a sherpa pullover and CC Beanie and the rest will follow suit.  This outfit is also a great investment for your cold weather wardrobe! It has all the necessities that you can wear from daytime shopping and lunch to night walks around the park and on the town.  Slip on your favorite pair of over the knee boots or ankle booties and you’ve got your outfit in the bag!

An investment like this requires some extra TLC to keep it looking and feeling as soft and beautiful as possible.

How to Wash Your True Grit/Dylan Sherpa:

  1. Wash separately in cold water with regular detergent (no fabric softener, no bleach.)
  2. Line dry (do not heat dry.)
  3. Fluff with your fingers when dry.

You may see that your True Grit Sherpa Pullover is becoming matted in some areas where a seat belt has been worn or where backpack straps may lay. To help keep these areas fluffy and soft, we recommend using a boar bristle brush and gently brush the Sherpa on your pullover to make it not matted. Here are 5 easy steps to help bring your Sherpa pullover back to life!

How to Make Your True Grit/Dylan Sherpa Not Matted:

Step 1: Get a boar bristle brush. We went to our local drug store and found a boar bristle brush for $3.

Step 2: Lay your Sherpa pullover down on a flat surface.

College Outfit Essentials

Let me guess, it’s the week or two before school starts, you have all your school supplies and dorm room accessories ready to go but you haven’t even started packing your clothes yet. Because, let’s be honest, who wants to make that decision on what items to bring and what items you have to leave behind.  Well, I am here to make your packing experience a little easier, I have put together a top 10 closest essentials list that I know I wouldn’t be able to live without!

Top 10 Closet Essentials for College

  1. Sweaters
  2. Sweatshirts and pullovers
  3. Your favorite blue jeans
  4. Leggings
  5. A couple of dresses – A sassy, flirty dress and a casual t-shirt dress
  6. At least 5 pairs of shoes – tennis shoes, heels, booties, flats, slides/sandals and rain/winter boots
  7. Hats and Scarves – baseball caps, beanies and blanket scarves.
  8. Bralettes – 1 White, 1 Black and 1 of your favorite color
  9. At Least 7 nice shirts/blouses
  10. A few t-shirts

Dressing for fall is my favorite time of the year! I just love the sweaters and cozy scarves that come along with the colder temperatures. Unfortunately, for packing this makes it harder because usually fall clothing is bulkier and takes up more space. But don’t let that intimidate you, that means you just have to pick out your favorite pieces to take with you.

Piko Sweater Top

I started my list with sweaters, because I love a nice cozy sweater! I would say to pack at least 3 or 4 sweaters, two casual sweaters that matches everything and two statement sweater for going out in. My favorite statement sweater is a lace up sweater.

Sherpa Pullover

My next go item is a sweatshirt. On my lazy days, I just grab my sweatshirt and pair it with my leggings and just bum around campus. You can dress up your sweatshirt and pullover collection by adding a Sherpa pullover, these pullovers will be sure to keep you warm during that nice little walk from your dorm to class.

College Essentials

I know you have to have at least one pair of jeans that you just cannot live without. I know I have at least two. I would pack your favorite jeans and some leggings. You will be living in leggings during class and hanging out in the dorm! They are a must have!

Booties

Don’t forget about your best companions, your shoes. You’ll need at least one pair of tennis shoes and maybe a pair of nude heels that will match everything. Be sure to grab your favorite booties, and some slides or sandals to hang around the dorm in. I would also grab a pair of rain boots or winter boots for those wet and cold days this winter.

Scarves and Hats

When it comes to packing accessories, I would just limit it to hats, scarves and bralettes for the fall semester. Hats will eliminate all bad hair days! Pack at least one baseball cap and a neutral colored beanie. Last fall, my blanket scarf saved me! I would recommend packing at least one or two blanket scarves to keep you warm. My other favorite accessory is a bralette. They layer perfectly under any fashion top or sweater. I would recommend having at least one black and one white lace bralette to help add a little touch to your outfits this fall.

Everly Dress

When it comes to fashion tops and dresses, I wouldn’t pack too many. You will need some for those days that you want to dress up or go out with friends. But, you also want to make sure to leave room in your closet for new items that you will want to buy from the local boutiques near campus.

I know we all have our go to t-shirt that we like to lounge in and it’s okay to bring a few of those with you, but keep in mind that your t-shirt collection will expand during college. There’s always t-shirts being given away on campus and during events.

I hope this has helped you with getting ready for the fall semester and makes your transition into the new dorm less stressful. Just remember, you can always come home and visit during weekends and holidays to grab more clothes!

Trend Alert: Sherpa Pullovers and Vests

Sherpa for men and womenFALL IN LOVE WITH SHERPA

Dylan by True Grit

Introducing the item of the year from True Grit Clothing: sherpa Pullovers and Vests! These pullovers and vests are to die for! The ultra-plush fabric is perfect for the colder weather heading our way. The main question we receive about these hot items are regarding the sizing and the difference between True Grit and Dylan.

True Grit:

Built for men. True Grit pullovers are crafted with a squared hem and side slits. These men’s pullovers have an oversized fit and are perfect for layering. When men purchase True Grit pullovers, we recommend ordering their true size. For women ordering a True Grit pullover, we recommend ordering down one size for the perfect, slightly oversized fit.

Dylan by True Grit:

Dylan is the women’s brand made by True Grit clothing. The women’s Dylan pullovers have a slimmer fit and also feature side slits. Made in U.S. women’s sizing instead of junior’s, these pullovers are cut with an oversized construction. We recommend ordering your true size in these pullovers to receive the desired fit.
