How To: Men’s Fall Fashion

header

With all of the attention on women’s fashion for fall, we had to be fair and give the men a little love too. Lately at Glik’s, we have been getting so many great new styles for men and we are so excited! Fall fashion is literally so simple for men to pull off, even though it can look like they put in SO much time and effort. (We know you guys get a little excited when this time of the year rolls around too.) These new fall styles scream comfort and versatility, which is what any guy wants in their style.  From street styles and layering, to casual and classy, we are sure to have the looks your man needs.

First of all, basics are the starting piece for any outfit, so fellas need to have staple basic pieces in their wardrobe too (think Active USA basic tees or 1897 Henley shirts). Once you have a few picked out, start thinking about your favorite pair of denim jeans.  No matter the wash or fit, they will be the best investment for cold weather fashion. Let’s face it guys, we know you have about 4 of the same pair of jeans because why fix what’s not broken? In that case, check out the amazing styles 1897 Denim and Axel Denim have to offer, they will be sure to become your new go-to.

Now comes the fun part, layering! To some guys, layering may be a scary thing since they may not know what matches or what styles look good together.  However, don’t fret, fall and winter are the BEST times to experiment with layering and figure out what works best for you! Therefore, we are here to tell you that you can never go wrong with a long sleeve button down woven shirt, like one from Weatherproof Vintage! Then, depending on the temperature, throw on another layer with a cool Patagonia vest or an 1897 Sweater. Complete the look with a versatile pair of Crevo Boots and you’re ready for fall activities!

If you want to go the more casual route, stick with your basic t-shirt or henley top. Next, throw on some comfortable joggers and a classic beanie from CC Beanie or The North Face. Then, bring the look together with a pullover from Free Nature, a lined denim jacket from Brooklyn Cloth, or an ultra-cozy sherpa pullover from True Grit.

Cozy Cardigans Make the World Go ‘Round

This topic comes around year after year, but we just cannot get enough of it! Cozy cardigans literally make the world go ‘round. They are the perfect item of clothing to throw on and go when you’re in a rush, but also a great piece to dress up for a night out while still remaining warm and comfortable! We have already been receiving new styles and returning favorites of cardigans at www.gliks.com, and we cannot wait to see what we will continue to receive throughout fall and winter!

Cardigans are basically a fashionable blanket, so you really can’t go wrong with them.  When transitioning from summer to fall, we recommend throwing on a cardigan over your favorite summer dresses! It is such a versatile look, you can mix and match with all of your cardis and dresses.  Also, when the temperature really starts to drop, cardigans are a great layering piece. Throw a cozy cardigan over your favorite graphic tee and flannel button up, a pair of ripped denim jeans, and ankle booties and you are set for whatever comes your way!

Now, we know you’re probably thinking, “tell me something I don’t already know.”  Well, what you don’t know is just how hard it’ll be to decide on just ONE cardigan to wear for the crisp, cool air that comes with the changing of seasons. With different lengths, fabrics, and colors, you’ll want to wear a cardigan just about every day.  Which means, you’ll have to keep hitting up your local (or online!) Glik’s to snag one of the latest styles we get in. Check out our favorite cardigans below and see how we love to style them daily on Glik’s Official Instagram! Happy shopping 🙂

Kimonos: The Epitome of the Layering Piece

1

Who doesn’t love a good kimono (or three)? They are an AMAZING transitional piece that can take you through all of the seasons, they are cozy, AND they are super fun and flattering. So, we will go ahead and start by saying that you definitely need to invest in a few kimonos to switch up your looks all year round.

For starters, kimonos are so versatile since they come in infinite combinations of colors, lengths, short sleeve, long sleeve, patterns, and fabrics. This is our absolute favorite part about kimonos and is what makes them so great for year-round style.  They have the ability to make you feel fashionable, feminine, and cool, while still letting your personal style shine. The kimono is a staple piece in your wardrobe that can be easily incorporated into your personal, day-to-day style.

You can wear kimonos during the summer months by choosing a lightweight, floral kimono and pairing it with a basic tank or tee, ripped jean shorts, and your favorite summer sandals.  Or, throw a patterned kimono over your swim suit when you are headed to the pool for a cool, yet fabulous, look.  For the cooler months, rock a duster kimono that is toned with autumn colors, a tank or lightweight sweater, ripped (or clean!) skinny jeans, and your go-to heeled booties! This look is so great since you can also switch up the look by substituting your kimono for a cardigan! A timeless look for every season is throwing a kimono over your favorite sun dress! If it’s chilly, wear a pair of tights or leggings underneath to stay warm. Going for a night out look? Opt in for a silk or velvet kimono with a more tailored look, dark wash denim, and your best dancing heels!

We just can’t get enough of kimonos, honestly! They are the epitome of a layering piece. Let us know what your favorite ways to wear your kimonos are! Shop these trends at www.gliks.com or check out how we like to style our looks on Glik’s Official Instagram!

How to Layer This Spring with Kimonos and Wraps

Kimonos and ruana wraps have be on trend the past few seasons and this spring will be no different. A lot of people might think that layering stops when the weather warms up, but don’t buy into the myth! Cute kimonos and wraps are in every boutique I go to and they’re all over my Instagram feed. These trendy layering pieces will help your outfit stay on point, no matter what the weather throws at you. Plus, they give a boho vibe to any outfit.

Wondering how to layer these pieces? Kimonos and ruana wraps can be styled with almost anything you have in your closet, from skinny jeans and heels or even layered over your favorite dresses.

Here’s how I style my current favorite ruana wrap and kimonos:

ruana-wrapruana-wrapsblock-heelsI absolutely love the colors and pattern of this ruana wrap!  I styled it with my favorite jeggings by Flying Monkey and a Piko top that I knotted in the front. Can we talk about these sandals for a second? I’m loving the thick straps and chunky block heel. They definitely complete this outfit!

This paisley patterned kimono is a must for spring.  It definitely adds a little flair to my basic olive green Piko dress.  To complete the look, I added a pair of tall metallic gladiator sandals and some gold accessories.  Can you say boho chic?

This is my favorite combination.  I’ll admit, I’m addicted to Piko shirts… and I’m not sorry.  They just look so good with everything and they’re super comfy!  For this outfit, I paired the Look by M Diamond Patterned Kimono with a navy Piko top and a pair of destructed boyfriend jeans.  I added a strappy block heeled sandal to complete my look.  This to me,  is the perfect outfit because it’s so versatile.  I can wear it out shopping with my bestie or I can wear it out to dinner with a simple change of jewelry.

Speaking of versatility, these kimonos and ruana wraps will take you far past spring fashions. You’ll easily be able to add these pieces to your summer wardrobe!  Instead of wearing them with a long sleeved or 3/4 sleeve top, wear them with a tank top or even as a swimsuit cover up.

Button-up shirts also look great left open with another shirt underneath. Pairing plaid button-ups with graphic tees will create a huge statement this fall.

Wear your necklace on the top of your scarf or vice versa this fall.

If you still want to wear leggings this fall, you are in luck! Leggings are great for layering and look great with tunics and dresses. For this look, we paired a plain dress with a fun patterned legging. It really adds character and personality to an otherwise simple dress! Another reason we love leggings is the fact that they look great tucked in tall riding boots or combat boots. (And they are oh, so comfortable!).
