Introducing POL Clothing

WHo is POL?

POL is one of the hottest brands currently and is selling out in all Glik’s stores. Conceptualized in Los Angeles, CA., POL clothing started with humble beginnings from 2009 as a wholesale manufacturer and has blossomed since. POL is versatile, comfortable, and most importantly stylish. Regardless of age or style, POL capitalizes on everything that is trendy. POL has numerous styles ranging from tanks to dresses and cardigans. They are made out of soft fabrics and are dyed with a unique wash. Some of the most popular colors include: black, olive green, red brick, and ivory. Some designs include lace, added pockets and embroidery. POL is great for day to night outfits or just a casual outing. Here is a little outfit inspiration and reasons why we love POL! 🙂

POL Tanks

POL baby-doll tanks are one of their most well-known styles. They are cute, comfy, and are perfect for any woman. With unique colors, styles, and trims; baby-doll tanks are a hit! POL baby-doll tanks pair well with jeans, shorts, and leggings. Also add a long fringe necklace for an added feminine touch.

 POL Three QUARTERED sleeve

These shirts are perfect for comfy fall nights. They pair well with blanket scarfs and skinny jeans for a stylish fall look. They have small detailed trim for a feminine touch and have a Bohemian feel to them with their bell sleeves. Our favorite way to pair them is with leather black shorts or joggers.

POL Dresses

POL dresses are cute and comfy! They have the same baby-doll shape as the tanks, yet are slightly more feminine. They come in swing dress designs, as well as long maxi dress designs. They also have the same lace trim detail and unique stone wash look to them. Our favorite way to wear them is with a bright colored bralette and gladiator sandals! A great way to get this look would be pairing the MIA Tall Devi Gladiators with the POL dresses.

For a fun way to dress up women’s tunics, add a felt sun hat and gladiator sandals, or for your more classic women’s, tunic look add some colorful denim like these styles from Flying Monkey!

POL Cardigans

Finally, one of POL’s most feminine styles is their short sleeve backless cardigan. the cardigan is just a soft and comfortable as the rest of their pieces, but has a sweet backless detail. This little detail brings a big punch when it comes to style. It can turn any daytime outfit into the perfect going out outfit, and make any casual outfit a little bit sweeter! We recommend pairing them with racerback lace bralettes from Wishlist and denim for a cool street-style look.

4 Stylish Ways to Cover Up at the Beach

Finding the perfect beach cover up is just as important as finding the right swimsuit for many reasons: 1. Just because you rock a teeny bikini doesn’t mean you want all eyes on you all day long; 2. Sunscreen can only last so long and offer so much protection; 3. Spending the day at the beach doesn’t always mean you’re staying put. If you want to leave for lunch or walk to local shops, a cover-up is a necessity.

Beach cover-ups don’t have to mean an oversized caftan that does nothing for your figure. You can easily rock a button up shirt, kimono, or even a Piko dress over your swimsuit this summer.

Not only will a cover up look great at the beach, but you’ll also be ready for after-beach dinner in no time.

Check out a few of our favorite beach cover up alternatives:

cover up dresses

Replace your old beach cover up with a lightweight denim dress, like this one from Elan Clothing! Add a fun pair of sandals (i.e. the MIA Renata) for a playful and eye-catching look.

kimono cover up

Repurpose that cute kimono hanging in your closet to add an effortless layer over your swim suit this summer. This fringed kimono from Hayden Clothing is the perfect option! Throw on a Natural Life Boho Bandeau to tame your beachy waves.

swimsuit cover ups

Covering up with a long vest is a must for two reasons: 1. You can add denim cutoffs and easily go from poolside to after-party in seconds; 2. A pretty vest, like the Verona from Jack by BB Dakota, will look just as good with your skinny jeans as it does over your bikini.

cover up dress

A simple tank dress as a swim cover up is a no-brainer. The Amuse Society Dani dress is lightweight enough to wear in the hot summer heat, and can easily be thrown in your beach bag when you’re ready to jump in!

Bohemian Style |Wild and Free|

From Vanessa Hudgens to Kate Hudson to your favorite fashion blogger on Instagram, every free-spirited babe is rocking the boho chic look this spring. If your inner hippie is begging to be let loose when you see boho looks, don’t be afraid to let her out to play!

Printed pants are the piece to try if you want to dip your toes in the tie-dye water without fully submerging yourself in a boho look.

A printed pant can put off a laid-back flower-child vibe without giving the appearance of trying too hard. Take a nod from gypsy queen Kate and style a relaxed fitting pair with a solid colored Piko top, beaded necklace and round sunglasses. Complete your look with strappy gladiator sandals on your feet and loose beachy waves in your hair.

bohemian style

Flared printed pants paired with an off the shoulder shirt can also help you embrace your inner boho chic fashionista. A solid colored top can easily balance out intricately patterned bottoms. Don’t forget to add long, layered necklaces and platform sandals for a bohemian style look that’s Instagram worthy.

If you’re like me, you’re probably now head over (gladiator) heels in love with bohemian style. Find inspiration in these boho-meets-street-style looks and add your own personal touches to make them reflect your inner flower child. I suggest a half-up boho bun hairstyle or go all out and make your own flower crown.

Summer Essentials

We are slowly but surely transitioning over into a new season. Despite all of this crazy Midwest weather that we’ve been experiencing, our heavy, cold climate apparel is being packed away to make room for lighter layers.

At some point as you start packing and unpacking you start to think about what add-ons you need to have in your wardrobe to complete your summer outfits. Personally I usually buy accessories, like a few new bracelets and rings, a super versatile pair of summer heels, flats and sandals, a light scarf, and a good jacket that I can transition easily amongst my outfits.

Once you find your essential add-ons creating a summer look will be easy. Below are a few of my newest add-on additions.

Above, the Golden Days thong sandal (only $9.90) from Charles Albert.

A great denim jacket from Silver Jeans Co. that will work with any outfit.

A summer scarf and our Glimmer of Gold gladiator sandal from Charles Albert.

Accessories and white denim shorts are a must! I love our bright Knot Your Average neon necklace and stacks of cute beaded bracelets! Visit us on Pinterest for a ton of DIY bracelet tutorials!

Summer add-ons are a must, and who can say no to $9.90 sandals?

Festival Fashion {Trends}

One of fashions favorite festivals, Coachella, kicks-off the second installment of its two-weekend stint today in Indio, California. For those of you who are not familiar with Coachella, it is best compared to Woodstock but for Generation Y. Music fanatics from all over the world flock to California for two weekends of nonstop music!

Not only does Coachella attract some of the most premiere, cutting edge and coolest artists from rock, indie, house, hip-hop and other genres, but also tons of celebs, socialites, models, and daring fashionistas gather amongst music lovers from all walks of life. Celebs like Kate Bosworth, Drew Barrymore, Nicole Richie, Vanessa Hudgens and many other regulars on the festival circuit have set the festival style standard for 2012.

Here are some popular fashion trends you might want to try if you plan on traveling to a few of the many festivals scheduled this 2012 summer!

Cut-Off Denim Shorts: A proper pair of cut-off shorts are intended to look tattered and slightly dirty. This makes them a perfect option for an outdoor festival. A great cut-off denim short is the Trinity short from Silver Jeans Co.

Crop Tops: If you’re attending a festival this summer you’re bound to get hot. A perfect solution fashionably beat the heat is by wearing a cropped top. A helpful hint when wearing a crop top is to match it with a high waisted bottom so that it balances your figure.

Boots: A great pair of boots will go a long way when you’re spending the weekend outdoors. Not only is a cute pair of boots fashionable, but they will also protect your feet. I like the Denver boot from Volatile.

Actress, Vanessa Hudgens is a perfect example of true festival fashion. (Photo from

Gladiator Sandals: A chic pair of gladiator sandals will keep you cool while still looking stylish.

Feathers: Opt for accessories like feather jewelry, headdresses and accented items.

Accessorize: Great accessories are key for festivals. Opt for earrings, necklaces, bangles, rings and headbands that can be versatile.

This might just be amazing! Found this neat photo amongst many others that I (highly) suggest checking out at

Fringe: Fringe looks great on clothing, bags & purses. A favorite of mine is the Belize top from Jack by B.B. Dakota.

Dresses: No true festival fashionista can go wrong with a great dress! Whether it’s a maxi, above the knee, is body conscious, or loose and flowy dress, rocking a trendy pattern like floral, tribal, a bold color or stripe is always fun!

Crochet: Crocheted dresses, clothing and accessories are tried & true festival classics that have lasted through the ages. We love these crocheted pieces from the Billabong/Oracle Fox collection.

As a huge fan of fashion and self proclaimed “Music Lover”, I could go on and on and on for days about the unique relationship that the two have. But we still have one more weekend of Coachella to enjoy, more fashion trends to be found and a summer filled with festivals to embark on. Be sure to follow Coachella 2012 throughout this weekend and be on the watch for the most daring fashions inspired from the music that we all come together to love.

Remember: Be sure to let us know what you think! What was your favorite festival outfit or celeb style? You can find any of the items featured in this blog online at or stop by your local Glik’s store location for all of your summer style needs!
