May and June Outfit Inspiration

We love when our customers and sales associates share their Glik’s style with us. Each month we choose a trend and have our sales associates style it out to show off their style. Check out some of the styles we received in May and June!

For the month of May, we picked Novelty Shirts for the trend for men. Our Area Manager, Chad stole the show while showing off his grilling skills. Chad says “Fashion is my name. Grilling is my game!”

For the month of May, we picked floral print for the trend for women. Our sales associate Logan from our Olney Glik’s location was voted by our Instagram followers for the best floral outfit. The floral print trend is such a fun print for summer and works for just about anyone!

Floral Print

“When I saw this yellow blu pepper dress I just had to have it! Yellow is one of my favorite colors to wear and this floral print is right up my alley!! I chose to pair it with a light blue high neck bralette. I topped my outfit off with my fossil watch, my favorite Alex & Ani, and a long blue stone fringe necklace!” – Logan

I’m with the Band-eau

FINALLY, we have an excuse to let our bras show! What makes this possible?  Bandeaus, and they are ESSENTIAL to any fashionista’s wardrobe. They’re like a special gift from the fashion gods given to women all over in a variety of colors, fabrics, and patterns. Whether you prefer lace, crochet, sequins, and florals, animal print, or tribal print, there is a bandeau for you!

The bandeau’s story is special. This unique article of clothing has come a long way from it’s early years of being hidden beneath layers of clothing as underwear and then granted the opportunity to prove it’s fashionable skills in the swimwear community. Now, the bandeau has broken free of its trendy chains and made its way into the mainstream!

Pair a bandeau with anything, and I’m sure you will not be let down. If worn the right way, this stylish strip of fabric can be a chic fashion choice to show a little skin while still maintaining a classy appearance!

I consider myself a “mad-style scientist” and like to experiment with what I wear. I know that I am not alone in admitting that I have splurged on a few tops and dresses where a conventional bra is just out of the question while wearing the prized garment. Whether it’s the large armholes, the design of the back and straps, or the fit of the garment, these give my good ‘ole standard bra a run for its money.

My new go-to is a bandeau, and it has been saving my fashion forward soul for some time now! With the comeback of high-waisted bottoms, wearing a chic bandeau and letting only a small glimpse of skin show is becoming popular.

I realize that not every fashionista is comfortable with her silhouette in the same way, and this trend may not be for everyone. Even if you’re not sold on the “glance of skin” look, most stylish souls can find a way to best wear the bandeau within their own comfort zone.

Padded Bandeau

Usually under $10, bandeaus are a chic investment. Most bandeaus are lined, and some will come with cup pads that can be removed. PLUS don’t fret if you have “more to spare” in that department than others; bandeaus are made of comfortable, supportive and durable materials like spandex and elastic.

Bandeaus have come a long way since their early days, and I foresee that bandeaus will be here to stay. They are super fun to wear and can majorly upgrade any outfit!  Visit us online at for all of your bandeau needs, or stop by any of our Glik’s store locations to test out any of your stylish ideas.

Playful Pastels

Make some room neon! Pastel has made its comeback. Now the bold and bright electric shades have to share the spotlight with soft and demure hues.

Pastels are being sighted everywhere this summer from nails to shoes, jackets to jeans, and tops to dresses. Pastels are even being featured in home décor and the interior design scene.

I really love pastels right now, and why shouldn’t I?  Think of all the fab styling possibilities that come with soft feminine hues like lavender, mint green, cotton candy pink, sky blue, peaches & cream, and saturated coral.

Pastels + Neutrals:  Trying pastels for the first time? Ease into this trend by pairing your pastel tinted skinnies with an otherwise casual outfit. By pairing a color with neutrals you don’t overpower the look and can slowly ease into this trend. You can opt for an extra contrasting pop of pastel with fun accessories or painted nails.

Pastel & Print: What I like about pastels is that they can give a feminine touch to a bold print or pattern. A pair of leopard print shorts looks fun when paired with a dainty mint pastel tank and fashionable flip-flops!

It’s all about Layers:  Not new to the color trend, but you’re ready to spice up your style a notch? Make a statement when you wear a contrasting colored bottom like the Flying Monkey jegging in coral with a pastel patterned top.  Layer, layer, and layer some more.  You can start with one pastel piece, and then you can add more as you gain confidence!

Pastels are perfect for a feminine springtime look and will continue through the summer. Be sure to keep an eye out for chic new pastel apparel arriving daily at or you can visit your local Glik’s store location to find your perfect pastel piece!

Festival Fashion {Trends}

One of fashions favorite festivals, Coachella, kicks-off the second installment of its two-weekend stint today in Indio, California. For those of you who are not familiar with Coachella, it is best compared to Woodstock but for Generation Y. Music fanatics from all over the world flock to California for two weekends of nonstop music!

Not only does Coachella attract some of the most premiere, cutting edge and coolest artists from rock, indie, house, hip-hop and other genres, but also tons of celebs, socialites, models, and daring fashionistas gather amongst music lovers from all walks of life. Celebs like Kate Bosworth, Drew Barrymore, Nicole Richie, Vanessa Hudgens and many other regulars on the festival circuit have set the festival style standard for 2012.

Here are some popular fashion trends you might want to try if you plan on traveling to a few of the many festivals scheduled this 2012 summer!

Cut-Off Denim Shorts: A proper pair of cut-off shorts are intended to look tattered and slightly dirty. This makes them a perfect option for an outdoor festival. A great cut-off denim short is the Trinity short from Silver Jeans Co.

Crop Tops: If you’re attending a festival this summer you’re bound to get hot. A perfect solution fashionably beat the heat is by wearing a cropped top. A helpful hint when wearing a crop top is to match it with a high waisted bottom so that it balances your figure.

Boots: A great pair of boots will go a long way when you’re spending the weekend outdoors. Not only is a cute pair of boots fashionable, but they will also protect your feet. I like the Denver boot from Volatile.

Gladiator Sandals: A chic pair of gladiator sandals will keep you cool while still looking stylish.

Feathers: Opt for accessories like feather jewelry, headdresses and accented items.

Accessorize: Great accessories are key for festivals. Opt for earrings, necklaces, bangles, rings and headbands that can be versatile.

This might just be amazing! Found this neat photo amongst many others that I (highly) suggest checking out at

Fringe: Fringe looks great on clothing, bags & purses. A favorite of mine is the Belize top from Jack by B.B. Dakota.

Dresses: No true festival fashionista can go wrong with a great dress! Whether it’s a maxi, above the knee, is body conscious, or loose and flowy dress, rocking a trendy pattern like floral, tribal, a bold color or stripe is always fun!

Crochet: Crocheted dresses, clothing and accessories are tried & true festival classics that have lasted through the ages. We love these crocheted pieces from the Billabong/Oracle Fox collection.

As a huge fan of fashion and self proclaimed “Music Lover”, I could go on and on and on for days about the unique relationship that the two have. But we still have one more weekend of Coachella to enjoy, more fashion trends to be found and a summer filled with festivals to embark on. Be sure to follow Coachella 2012 throughout this weekend and be on the watch for the most daring fashions inspired from the music that we all come together to love.

Remember: Be sure to let us know what you think! What was your favorite festival outfit or celeb style? You can find any of the items featured in this blog online at or stop by your local Glik’s store location for all of your summer style needs!

What’s Your Style? – BoHo Chic

Our “Style” post today is influenced by bohemian and hippie looks.  The BoHo look seems to be even hotter this summer than usual with all of the maxi dresses and gladiator sandals.  BoHo chic is all about the “floaty” skirts and the floral and embroidered prints.

Outfit 1:  A belted maxi dress is your go-to look for this style, especially paired with a great pair of brown gladiator sandals with a slight heel.  Add some bangles and a feather earring for some extra flair.

Gladiators: City Classified

Outfit 2:

This floral print dress looks great by itself when it’s hot, or with a pair of distressed Silver jeans when it’s cooler.  Gladiators always work as a go-to shoe for this look, but western-inspired boots would give it an added edge.

Outfit 3:

This top puts a modern spin on the hippie look, and these distressed shorts a must-have for hot summer days.  These cut out sandals are a perfect match to finish off the look.
