Lately every blog has been about how excited I am about spring being sooooo close and sorry, but here is another one. I mean winter clothes are cute too so don’t get me wrong about that, but GIMME ALL THE SPRING DRESSES ALREADY!! Here at Glik’s we have been getting in all our spring clothing and oh my goodness are they the epitome of all the good things that I cannot wait for with warmer weather.

A good spring dress is such a vital investment us girls make every season. The spring dress is the essential piece we wear to outdoor weddings, surprise date nights, summer music concerts, and probably on a couple warm autumn days when we refuse to wear those jeans quite yet.

What to Wear on Valentine’s Day: Date Night

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and if you’re lucky, your significant other has already made plans for the two of you to celebrate this romantic holiday. Now that your plans are set, I bet you’re wondering what to wear. Never fear, I’ve got three Valentine’s Day outfits that will impress far beyond February 14th.

Everly Clothing Mock Neck Dress

This sleeveless shift dress from Everly is guaranteed to help you steal his heart. I love this dress because it is ultra feminine and easy to accessorize.  Did I mention this dress is fully lined? For a complete look, pair this Everly dress with gold accessories, a killer pair of heels, and a glossy lip.  Try the Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer Lipgloss in Moonglow.  It’s the perfect soft pink nude color.

Elan Clothing Floral Print Dress with Bell Sleeves

Hands down, this Elan Clothing dress is my favorite! The floral pattern and color combination of this dress are romantic without looking overly festive.  The sleeves are unlined, but the body of the dress is fully lined so you won’t need to fuss with a slip.  With a flattering A-line silhouette, this Elan dress is a solid option for every body type.  Pair this floral dress with a great pair of wedges, a statement necklace and mauve lip.  Try the Tarteist Lip Paint by Tarte in Fomo.

Pink so not your color? Try this Valentine’s Day outfit!

Elan Clothing Black Dress with Crochet Detail Sleeves

If you’re so not into wearing red or pink clothes this Valentine’s Day, you can always opt for my go-to color:  black.  This dress, also by Elan Clothing, is a great option to wear out with your S.O. without feeling like a walking advertisement for the holiday.  It has a slight high-low hemline and long bell sleeves with crochet detail.  This dress is unlined so dress accordingly underneath 😉 Style this number with gold accessories and a wedge sandal. Add a pop of color on your lips with Studded Kiss Lipstick by Kat Von D in Lullaby.

Have a great Valentine’s Day ❤

The T-Shirt Dress: Fall’s Official Uniform

labor day has come and gone….and  you know what that means!  its officially fall!  bring on the pumpkin spice lattes, football and bon fires!  I am so ready!  maybe I need to slow down bit.  no need to bust out my uggs just yet:)  the first official day of fall is actually September 23rd.  fall is my favorite season.  I love boots and sweaters and scarves….I could go on and on.  and with any season change, that means a new wardrobe, right?  well, I’m going to tell you that you can definitely wear at least one of your summer staple items into the fall season. that item is: a t-shirt dress.  I have really been getting into wearing these recently and I cannot get enough!  as I scroll through IG, they are everyone’s favorite!

on a warm day, you can pair your t-shirt dress with a pair of sandals, some cute accessories and you are ready to go!

I love this black t-shirt dress by Everly Clothing.  you can find it here.  since its a basic black dress, it can be accessorized so many ways!  when it gets chilly,  i’ll just add a scarf and some boots.  totally versatile!  btw, this dress also looks great belted.

Everly T-Shirt Dress

I totally jumped on the stripes bandwagon this past summer.

Stripe Dress

this dress, which you can find here, was one of my favorites of the summer!  seriously, it’s so cute with a pair of chucks!

Striped Dress

you can also layer this striped dress with a kimono and give it more of a fall look.  i will eventually add booties….but my sandal-loving feet aren’t quite ready for that yet;)

i also have my eye on this dress and this one.  I’m all about those stripes!

what is your must have clothing item for fall?  i would love to know!

Be Mine, Valentine.

Well, Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. Do you have your dinner plans set?  Have you sealed your secret Valentines cards with a kiss and sent them? What about wrapping the gift(s) in pretty paper and adding dainty bows, is that done too?

Despite what can commonly be assumed, Valentine’s Day doesn’t discriminate against those who do or don’t have a special someone. Although it can be agreed that this love-centered holiday does seem to shine brighter on those who are in a relationship, it shouldn’t cause us to forget the other special relationships in our lives that exist within our families and friendships.

So, I believe that February 14th is a day reserved for loving thoughts, warm feelings, and the excuse to go shopping. That’s right, I said shopping, and it doesn’t matter whether you’re single or in a relationship.

Valentine’s Day is certainly a bittersweet day, but I would much rather focus on the sweet part, and here’s hoping that you would, too. So let’s talk dresses.

So maybe your big Valentine’s Day date is with a group of your closest friends

Pretty in Print

Keep your dress sweet by choosing chiffon layers and a fun print. It’s okay to spend Valentine’s Day around those you care for, even though they only hold the title of friend. I love the warm feelings that can be felt throughout the day– so go with yours. Give yourself (and your style) the mission to make people happy tomorrow.

Okay, your special someone has dinner planned…

Go on the hunt for the prettiest, most flirty, yet sultry dress you can find! Be sure to have fun with prints, silhouettes, fabrics, and unique designs. I’ve been a fan of the new spring 2013 BB Dakota and Jack dresses.

Who knows what your Valentine’s Day date will consist of, at least you’ll have a dress that has you prepared for it.

Be Mine, Valentine.

Cowboy Up!

Fall calls for boots, and there is no denying the cowboy boot from making its crossover to the cooler weather trends.  The cowboy boot is an American “classic,” and I think it is safe to say that this boot is the “old faithful” when it comes to footwear.

Volatile Denver Western Boot

Now when I think classic America a few great things come to mind: Willie Nelson, country music, John Deere tractors, baseball, hamburgers, float trips, denim, and Robert Redford (swoon). Now, I have to chuckle to myself after reading this list because it sounds super country, AND there are respectfully, MANY MORE things that are definitely American.  But this blog edition is about cowboy boots and if I wrote about everything American the blog would go on forever (history junkie).

Okay, the cowboy boot. The main reason why this boot has such staying power is due to the fact that not only is it one hardy and durable piece of footwear, but the cowboy boot is extremely versatile!

Robert Redford can rock his boots with a denim shirt and wranglers while horse whispering… while you can plan you next outfit for a night out with the girls.

(Work those cowboy boots Mr. Redford)

Wear your cowboy boots with denim:

Very Volatile Rio Grande Boot

Depending on the outfit, you can wear your boots 2 different ways when it comes to jeans.

If you are wearing denim with a larger leg opening like a bootcut or slight flare then your boot will be hidden under the excess denim material and will take on a heel effect by elongating your legs. The extra height helps to keep a simple outfit from not looking too casual. Be sure to keep in mind the length of your jean’s inseam. You want to add an extra inch or two depending on your boot’s heel height.

The more popular of the two denim outfit options trending right now is wearing a pair of skinny jeans or jeggings inside your cowboy boots. What I love about rocking skinny jeans inside your boots is that you make your outfit super chic and edgy. Maybe throw in a vegan friendly jacket or you super casual with a simple top paired with accessories.

Wear your cowboy boots with a dress:

Call it country chic or call it whatever you would like. A rustic pair of cowboy boots looks great with carefree dresses. Pair your boots with patterns, solids, and crochet/lace embellishments for outfits that look effortless. Throw in a denim accent in the form of a shirt, jacket or vest. And as the weather cools down you can rock knit sweaters, cardigans, and jackets with tights and scarves with your boots.

Partnering your cowboy boots with a maxi skirt or dress work wonders. The extra heel adds a bit of height, which is wonderful news for all of my fellow vertically challenged ladies out there that find wearing the longer garment difficult!

Have fun matching up your boots and opt for a statement color.

Very Volatile Denver Boot

Every fashionable closet will be in need of a trendy pair of cowboy boots for this fall. I suggest the Denver or Rio Grande cowboy boot from Very Volatile.

Trip into Fall: Dresses {Jack by BB Dakota}

It’s been a hot… hot… hot… summer so far, and it’s hard to believe that it’s JUST July! All week I’ve been adding new Jack by BB Dakota dresses to the gliks.com, and even though the weather leads us to believe that the humid SUMMER heat will NEVER leave, the cuts, color combinations, and silhouettes of the Fall 2012 BB Dakota dress styles beg to differ.

Don’t get yourself in a “hot “mess just yet (Ha… word play). The Jack by BB Dakota dresses that I am about to introduce to you can be worn right now, but what makes them so ah-maze-ing is that they can easily transition into the Fall 2012 season!  This will help your budget as you start to rotate some of your summer style dresses out of your wardrobe in the near future.

Kick it up a Notch in Vibrant Color Patterns!

It’s wearable art! Your own outfit is your fashion work of art, and you designed it yourself. I can honestly say that daring, bright, and energetic color patterns will be following us into fall.

Jack by BB Dakota Kacie Strap Dress

Right now a fashionista’s best friends are a pair of platform shoes, bold accessories, and chic strappy sandals. But as we slowly move into fall ANY of these dresses can be paired with sheer tights, edgy ankle boots, a rebellious jacket, or a classically chic blazer.

Jack by BB Dakota Edwin Dress

Who’s the next Tangerine Tango?

This color was seen EVERYWHERE this summer, and it embodied all of our happiest, most fashionable thoughts. But, as we transition to fall, what happens to this season’s “it” color?

Jack by BB Dakota Penelope Dress

Although not as bright as this summer’s hottest color, Tangerine Tango, it looks like the slightly more subdued tones of Burnt Orange will be a top color contender this fall 2012 season.

BB Dakota June Dress

Make room for Eggplant purple, please.

Jack by BB Dakota Clarke Dress

We’ve seen plenty of deep purple hues in our lipsticks and nail polishes, but now this deep, rich shade of purple will be featured in clothing for the fall.

Still having fun with prints.

It seems like the ever-evolving tribal patterns will transition from the in-your-face neon brights of this summer to the richer, more calming hues of this coming fall.

Jack by BB Dakota Andre Aztec Dress

We’re keeping it real with horizontal stripes as well. This tried-and-true pattern is extremely versatile and can transition easily from light, breezy summer fabrics to thicker fall knits.

Jack by BB Dakota Corina Dress

Jack by BB Dakota Noel Dress

Fear not, fall is still quite a few months away, but isn’t it always nice to have your wardrobes prepared? Visit us online at gliks.com for all of your fashionable needs, or just stop by any of our Glik’s store locations to get a head start on your fall wardrobe wants!

Festival Fashion {Trends}

One of fashions favorite festivals, Coachella, kicks-off the second installment of its two-weekend stint today in Indio, California. For those of you who are not familiar with Coachella, it is best compared to Woodstock but for Generation Y. Music fanatics from all over the world flock to California for two weekends of nonstop music!

Not only does Coachella attract some of the most premiere, cutting edge and coolest artists from rock, indie, house, hip-hop and other genres, but also tons of celebs, socialites, models, and daring fashionistas gather amongst music lovers from all walks of life. Celebs like Kate Bosworth, Drew Barrymore, Nicole Richie, Vanessa Hudgens and many other regulars on the festival circuit have set the festival style standard for 2012.

Here are some popular fashion trends you might want to try if you plan on traveling to a few of the many festivals scheduled this 2012 summer!

Cut-Off Denim Shorts: A proper pair of cut-off shorts are intended to look tattered and slightly dirty. This makes them a perfect option for an outdoor festival. A great cut-off denim short is the Trinity short from Silver Jeans Co.

Crop Tops: If you’re attending a festival this summer you’re bound to get hot. A perfect solution fashionably beat the heat is by wearing a cropped top. A helpful hint when wearing a crop top is to match it with a high waisted bottom so that it balances your figure.

Boots: A great pair of boots will go a long way when you’re spending the weekend outdoors. Not only is a cute pair of boots fashionable, but they will also protect your feet. I like the Denver boot from Volatile.

Actress, Vanessa Hudgens is a perfect example of true festival fashion. (Photo from kyxy.radio.com)

Gladiator Sandals: A chic pair of gladiator sandals will keep you cool while still looking stylish.

Feathers: Opt for accessories like feather jewelry, headdresses and accented items.

Accessorize: Great accessories are key for festivals. Opt for earrings, necklaces, bangles, rings and headbands that can be versatile.

Leann 18 Flat Sandal w/ Feathers

This might just be amazing! Found this neat photo amongst many others that I (highly) suggest checking out at lifeblasters.com.

Fringe: Fringe looks great on clothing, bags & purses. A favorite of mine is the Belize top from Jack by B.B. Dakota.

Dresses: No true festival fashionista can go wrong with a great dress! Whether it’s a maxi, above the knee, is body conscious, or loose and flowy dress, rocking a trendy pattern like floral, tribal, a bold color or stripe is always fun!

Crochet: Crocheted dresses, clothing and accessories are tried & true festival classics that have lasted through the ages. We love these crocheted pieces from the Billabong/Oracle Fox collection.

Oracle Fox/ Billabong Loving You Cardigan

Oracle Fox/ Billabong Sibill Lace Bell Sleeve Dress

As a huge fan of fashion and self proclaimed “Music Lover”, I could go on and on and on for days about the unique relationship that the two have. But we still have one more weekend of Coachella to enjoy, more fashion trends to be found and a summer filled with festivals to embark on. Be sure to follow Coachella 2012 throughout this weekend and be on the watch for the most daring fashions inspired from the music that we all come together to love.

Remember: Be sure to let us know what you think! What was your favorite festival outfit or celeb style? You can find any of the items featured in this blog online at gliks.com or stop by your local Glik’s store location for all of your summer style needs!
