Graphic tees and cardigans are all the talk this season. It is the perfect mix of laid-back and trendy, and so versatile!   Start this outfit with the Charlie Southern Santa Tee in Red.  We are all about sayings tees during the holidays, so you don’t want to miss out on this super cute t-shirt.  The graphic tee is layered under the ever-stylish Miracle Clothing Duster Cardigan in Beige.  The best part about oversized cardigans is that you feel as if you are wrapped up in a warm blanket, but it is perfectly acceptable and stylish to go out in public!  Next up, you will need to grab a pair of classic denim jeans.  We chose the Cello High Rise Skinny Jeans that provide comfort and practicality. Finish off this look with the Soda Shoes Toasty Combat Boots and a CC Beanie PomPom Hat!

Layering clothing for the fall gives you the opportunity to show your creativity and style. Glik’s can help you find those essential layering pieces for fall!

Cardigans

The first fall essential on our list is the thin cardigan. Thin cardigans can be your best friend since they are easy to layer and create an effortless, yet stylish look. Our Poof Cardigans are the perfect thin layering sweater. You can be super trendy this fall season by throwing a cardigan on over your jumpsuits, rompers, or dresses.

Button-ups

Button-ups can be used to really elevate your outfit. If you have a plain sweater and need to spice it up a little, try pairing it with a patterned button-up. Button-up shirts also look great left open with another shirt underneath. Pairing plaid button-ups with graphic tees will create a huge statement this fall.

If you still want to wear leggings this fall, you are in luck! Leggings are great for layering and look great with tunics and dresses. For this look, we paired a plain dress with a fun patterned legging. It really adds character and personality to an otherwise simple dress! Another reason we love leggings is the fact that they look great tucked in tall riding boots or combat boots. (And they are oh, so comfortable!).

Faux Leather Details For Fall

Leather, pleather, faux leather, vegan leather – whatever you choose to call it – there is no shortage of it for fall. Leather details are all over the place; from leggings and sweaters to bracelets and bags, leather accents are one of the hottest trends this season. Leather accents are an edgy way to bring your spring wardrobe into the fall months. Toss on a pleather jacket over your floral dress and pair with some combat boots – perfection!

Our Favorite Products For Fall with Faux Leather Details

With faux leather accents dominating the fashion world, brands are finding creative ways to incorporate the material into sweaters and wovens. You can find leather details on sleeves of tops and dresses, a whole skirt or dress made of faux leather, or a pop of black pleather on the collar of a sheer chiffon top. It is oh so easy to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe!

Faux leather does not have to be relegated to hardcore rock stars or bikers – which is the beauty of this trend. You can make leather accents look as edgy or feminine as you want. I love mixing and matching edgy pieces with overtly girly pieces to balance the look out. If edgy is your style, go for pleather head to toe, why not?!

The leather details trend brings the runway to your closet. We can take notes from Phillip Lim, Ralph Lauren, and Burberry with all of their drop-dead gorgeous leather jackets and leather accented pieces and translate them to real life, affordable and adorable clothing that you can wear day to day. Here are some of our favorite faux leather pieces.

1. Jack By BB Dakota Faux Leather Vest

2. Mellow Cat Leather Detail Tiger Top

3. Xtaran Olive Chiffon Top w/Pleather Details

4. Combat Boots (see similar here or the Brown ones here)

5. Burgandy Knit Top with Pleather Accents

6. Miss Me Silver Leather Fleur De Lis Bootcut Jean

7. Black Faux Leather Cut-Out Clutch and Faux Leather & Silver Bracelet

Putting Our Fashion Boots Forward for Fall

It can be hard bidding farewell to those long, warm, sunny days of summer… Believe me, I’ve been painstakingly counting down the days until that estimated first frost hits and the idea of autumn is firmly rooted in my wardrobe. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of layering, but my first love has to be boots. I wear boots all year long, spring, summer, fall, and winter. I have a WHOLE storage bin that is solely dedicated to just my collection of boots. I will switch out certain styles from season to season and even retire some that are not currently trending so that I can use them another season. I own over the knee boots, under the knee boots, embroidered boots, embellished boots, boots with studs, vintage boots (my favorite), ankle boots, combat boots, boots with metal, boots with fabric, rain boots, boots that are filled with wear and tear, and my list goes on…

My point here is that boots are the highlight of fall for most fashion forward folks. We live, eat, breath, and occasionally sleep (dream) boots. We follow fashion magazines, online blogs, fashion sites, and can often be caught staring at the feet of everyone we meet when daydreaming about boots.

It’s an addiction, and I’m here to confess that I have an addiction to boots…

Now you tell me, can you imagine yourself all wrapped up in stylish love this fall as you sip coffee and relax in the warm love of you oversized aztec sweater while admiring your new pair of Rido Harness ankle boots from Very Volatile?

Celebrities like Vanessa Hudgens, Blake Lively and even Miley Cyrus know exactly how to outfit a pair of thigh-high socks with boots. I am also a HUGE fan of the girls at Free People! I continually get lost for hours on their BLDG 25 blog.

Boot Obsessed:

We had featured a few of our favorite boots for fall in our Pre-Fall Fashion Essentials You Can’t Live Without blog along with other cold weather must-have items.  I have to admit that Roxy has impressed me this Fall 2013 season with a wide range of boots that are too cute for words.

Very Volatile Shoes always seems to deliver just the right amount of country-couture meets street-chic, too!

The Budget Fashionista:

Okay, admittedly, I am DEFINITELY not a millionaire, I have no ‘black card’ (sadface) and this is just a wild guess, but I am not alone in this. Believe me, my heart goes out to each and every one of my sister friends who have to treat their dimes like dollars. #muchlove

Here’s the light at the end of this dark tunnel, see these boots? They’ve got some pretty awesome brass and buckle accenting and they’re only like $34.90. That’s not a bad price in the boot world. We carry plenty of fashion brands that are reasonably priced for that budget friendly fashionista.
