The transition from summer to fall apparel here at Glik’s is in full swing. The clothes I’ve seen cross my desk are so cute and I can barely contain my excitement! I just want to buy all over it!
And a number of pieces stood out as an absolutely key item that will not only be great this fall season, but will also help you transition your wardrobe from summer to fall. Don’t miss these 5 must-have items:
This Billabong sweater is going to be everyone’s favorite this fall. A lot of girls are already so excited to wear it that they are pairing it with their denim shorts. Fringe was hot this summer and is going to continue to be hot this fall.
Plaid shirts are always a must-have! They make a simple outfit so much fun. There are three different ways I’ve seen the plaid worn. Buttoned up, kept open or tied around the waist. Tying your plaid around your waist adds character to your outfit. I’ve seen it tied around the waist with a dress, denim shorts or capris. No matter how you wear it, you will always look cute in plaid.
Scarves are simple but cute when transitioning from summer to fall. The blanket scarf pairs nicely with our Piko tops. These blanket scarves come in a variety of colors making it easy to coordinate with your outfit. Grab your blanket scarf today before they are gone!
Fedoras and Wide Brim Hats
Hats are great for transitioning from summer to fall. Make a statement by adding a wide brim hat to your outfit. The chain detailing on this hat is the perfect finishing touch you need to complete your festive outfit.
Every girl needs a pair of booties! Booties look great with bare legs making them perfect for this time of the year. Pair these booties with your favorite dress and a cardigan to enhance your summer-to-fall outfit. If dresses aren’t your style then try wearing your booties with cuffed skinny jeans. You won’t go wrong adding these booties to your boot collection!
Any (or all) of these essential wardrobe pieces will make the transition from summer to fall that much smoother. And as a bonus, these items can be worn both now (of course!) and later (as warm fall layers!)

Layering is the key to staying warm this winter. Scarves are perfect for layering because they are warm and ever-so-stylish.
For inspiration, we referred to the book, “50 Ways to Wear a Scarf”, by Lauren Friedman. It is truly a must-have for scarf-wearers. Here are some of our favorite warm ways to wear scarves this winter…
The Flyaway Vest
A scarf doesn’t always have to go around your neck. Get more use out of your favorite scarf by creating a flyaway vest! This look can be created with an oblong scarf. We used our Looks Collections Plaid Blanket Scarf that is available in multiple colors.
- Step 1: Fold your scarf in half widthwise.
- Step2: Tie the two sides of the top corner together.
- Step 3: Take the folded side that is in your other hand and bring it together with the tied side.
- Step 4: Tie the folded side and the tied side together to make one large knot.
- Step 5: Make sure the knot is secure.
- Step 6: Position the scarf so you can place your arms through the holes.
*A similar style, “The Kimono,” can be seen on pages 61-62 in the “50 Ways to Wear a Scarf” book.
This look is super-fast, super-easy and a great way to accentuate your figure! To create this look, we used the Reversible Nordic Print Wool Scarf.
- Step 1: Obtain a long rectangular scarf and a belt of your choice.
- Step 2: Drape the scarf around your neck and adjust it to your liking.
- Step 3: Make sure the ends of the scarf are even.
- Step 4: Secure the belt around the scarf and your waist.
*“The Hourglass” can be seen on pages 68-69 in the “50 Ways to Wear a Scarf” book.
The Lazy Girl
The Lazy Girl style is perfect for a day when you are short on time but still want to pull off a stylish look. We used Two-Toned Check Oblong Scarf that is available in a variety of colors.
- Step 1: Obtain a long rectangular scarf.
- Step 2: Drape the scarf around your neck so that one side hangs lower than the other.
- Step 3: Take the longer side of the scarf and start wrapping it around your neck.
- Step 4: Bring the longer side all the way around your neck so it lays parallel to the short side.
*“The Lazy Girl” can be seen on pages 71-72 in the “50 Ways to Wear a Scarf” book.
This style puts a creative twist on a traditional way to wear a scarf. It is a great way to add some style to a simple outfit. Here we used the Two-Toned Check Oblong Scarf that is available in a variety of colors.
- Step 1: Fold your long scarf in half and make a loop with the folded end.
- Step 2: Through the loop, grab one end of the scarf and pull it through.
- Step 3: Open the loop again.
- Step 4: Bring the remaining loose end over the top of the folded side and then pull through the loop. This will create the “knot” effect.
*“The Knot” can be seen on pages 76-77 in the “50 Ways to Wear a Scarf” book.
