What to Wear On Thanksgiving 2018

header

It’s already that time of the year again… THANKSGIVING! Can you believe!? With family traditions, shopping, great food, and holiday cheer, Thanksgiving is the kick off for the holiday season. With all of the busyness and chaos that revolves around Thanksgiving week, we wanted to put together a few outfit ideas for you! Keep reading to see four head-to-toe looks that will leave you cozy, stylish, and wanting each item for your wardrobe.

1. Shredded Sweaters

main-strip-outfitSweater weather is definitely here, so obviously this is a go-to look for the holidays. Statement sweaters are the perfect item to incorporate into your wardrobe.  We went with this shredded v-neck sweater from Main Strip. We ADORE this sweater so much, that we carry it in FOURTEEN (14!) colorways for you to choose from! We paired the sweater with an ultra-stretchy and soft pair of flared jeans.  These flare jeans from Cello Jeans are so great for the holidays because they have a pull on construction (fashionable look with a legging feel) so eat all of the turkey and stuffing you want! Complete the look with a lace bralette and a pair of neutral heeled booties, like these from Qupid Shoes!

2. Dainty Dresses

everly-outfitThis next look goes out to all you trendy girls out there. This corduroy dress from Everly Clothing is a timeless piece that features a delicate button front detail. (SWOON) This dress can easily be styled to suit your unique looks, but we decided to pair it with a trendy pair of leopard booties! We love how the animal print dresses the look down a bit, but if you wanted to dress it up, throw on a pair of sheer tights and heeled ankle booties or a pair of over the knee boots. Since the temperatures are dropping at this time of the year, you’ll need a dependable, yet fashionable, jacket! Snag this fur lined corduroy jacket from Thread & Supply and you’ll never want to take it off.

3. Sleepy Sherpas

threadsupply-outfitLet’s face it, this is what the majority of us will wear (or dream of wearing) on any holiday! (Let alone any day of the year, but that’s a battle for another blog post. 😉 ) This outfit will let you stuff your face with as much food as your heart desires, followed by a nap wherever you land, and then you will 100% wear the look on repeat weekly.  Our Thread & Supply Lazy Sunday sherpa pullover is the hottest item, so you’ll FOR SURE want one in each color. Sherpa pullovers are what dreams are made of; they’re like a soft blanket you can wear in public without being judged. We paired it with one of our many graphic tees from Charlie Southern that we are quite literally obsessed with and a pair of black fleece lined leggings. Finish this snuggly look with a high-quality pair of Sperry Duck Boots!

4. Charming Cardigans

lovestitch-outfitThis final look is definitely for when you want to look like you made an effort in how you look for the holidays, without sacrificing any comfort. This Love Stitch Clothing popcorn cardigan is sooo buttery soft and comes in multiple colors. It is extremely warm and such a great investment since you can wear it as a fashion piece and as outerwear! We layered it over one of our Wishlist Clothing bodysuits, which needs to become a staple in your year-round wardrobe if it isn’t already. Complete the look with a pair of versatile denim jeans, like these from Nature Jeans, and a pair of tall boots, like these from MIA Shoes.

Back to School Styles: Fall Preview 2018

It’s almost August, which means it’s time to start thinking about back to school shopping! I know some of you may be thinking, “UGH, do we have to?!” But, back to school shopping can be super fun since it’s the time when you get to start picking out your new fall wardrobe and be oh-so stylish walking down the halls. Keep reading to check out our top picks for Fall 2018!

cardigan

The most staple of all fall outfits is this look. It is great for almost any occasion, and can be SO versatile since there are SO MANY ways to achieve this look! If it were up to us (and this heat wave would go away) we would be wearing a cozy cardigan every single day. Finding a cardigan, or sweater, that is made with a textured knit fabric is the way to go! It gives your look a pattern, while still wearing neutrals.

girls group shot (1 of 1)

Denim is also a staple piece to stock up on for fall. As the temps start to drop, you will need a few core styles of denim jeans to rotate through the year! Kancan Jeans and Flying Monkey Jeans are two of our favorite brands that we swear by.  They offer different styles and fits, while all being so comfortable and sculpt to your every move. One of our go-to looks is denim on denim.  This put together look can be achieved by wearing your favorite denim jeans (or jean skirt) and pairing it with a jean jacket or button up chambray top.  To let your personality shine, wear a graphic tshirt underneath or add your unique accessories to add a pop of color.

Shoes

Now, you can’t talk back to school shopping without mentioning the best part: NEW SHOES! Finding neutral booties is a great investment in your fall wardrobe.  They are so great since you can easily dress them up and down, while still remaining comfortable throughout your day.  A few of our favorites are from Qupid Shoes, Soda Shoes, and City Classified Shoes! Also, you can’t forget about your new cool sneakers to complete your athleisure looks for days when you really don’t have the time or energy to be completely glam. 🙂

cc and sherpa

If you haven’t hopped aboard the sherpa train, or if you’ve been living under a rock and have no idea what a sherpa pullover is, now is DEFINITELY the time.  Sherpa is huuuuuge for fall, and now is the best time to stock up on your favorite styles! (PS. These are amazing Christmas gifts.) You never have to worry about being freezing while sitting in class, or putting on a bulky winter coat again.  They are literally so warm and cozy, you’ll never want to take it off! A great pair to sherpa are beanies! CC Beanies are our favorite beanies to wear when it gets cold.  They offer a variety of colors and styles, that you’ll be sure to find one that suits your needs.

Moto Leggings: Trend to Try

These bottoms fit like leggings, but give the illusion of real pants. Yes, please.

Both comfortable and on-trend, moto leggings pass the leggings-as-pants test because of one thing: the details. There are ribbed panels above each knee and zippers at the ankles, giving these pants an edgy but still very wearable look.

Moto pants will elevate any outfit, no matter how casual. Keep scrolling to see how we’re wearing moto-inspired leggings this season.

Moto Leggings + Freeloader

This is the outfit you’ll never want to take off (and I don’t blame you). This Freeloader clothing cardigan is made with a tiger brush fabric that is cozier than cozy. We had to throw another Z Supply tee underneath because they are just that comfy.

Trend Spotting at MAGIC 2016- Women’s and Shoes

Fashion, especially fast fashion, is constantly evolving and changing. Trying to keep up on the latest trends can be more than any one person can handle. That’s where we step in and do the legwork for you so when you walk into a Glik’s, all the latest and greatest fashions are available to you without the guesswork.

One of our main resources for trend spotting is tradeshows. Our buying team recently attended MAGIC, one of the biggest tradeshows of the year. Walking through the different shows at MAGIC is like walking through a gigantic mall, on a Saturday, at noon, when every store is having a sale. Basically, MAGIC is chaos. It is wonderfully crowded with booths full of great fashion and stylish people.

If you want to be in the know on upcoming trends, keep reading.

Shoe Trends:

1. Color is key.

Earth tones, shades of olive green, and blush are predicted to be major players for Spring 2017. These colorways were available in styles ranging from lace up ballet flats to ankle boots.

2. It’s all in the details.

Cut out details are trending now for fall and this trend shows no sign of slowing down come spring.

3. Say goodbye to the middle man.

While a classic pair of riding boots is still a style staple, ankle boots and over-the-knee boots are the next big thing in footwear. Be on the lookout for over-the-knee boots coming soon to Glik’s!

CLOTHING TRENDS:

1. Stand out in camo print.

From tees to dresses to jackets, camouflage print was everywhere. This print will give you instant cool girl vibes.

2. Olive everything.

Whether it was olive green, army green, or somewhere in between, this trendy hue is at the forefront of fall fashion. This neutral shade will continue into spring 2017, so you’ll be able to wear your favorite pieces now and later.

3. Slay in (faux) suede.

This fabric is both buttery soft and oh-so-stylish. This combination leaves no doubt that faux suede is a trend to try.

How to Wear Ankle Boots in Summer

When the temps rise, our first inclination is to bust out open-toe sandals. And while summer sandals are necessary to beat the heat, there’s something about a chic pair of ankle boots that can’t (and shouldn’t) be ignored, even when it’s warm out.

Booties are not only a summer footwear staple, but the right pair can easily be a year-round essential in your wardrobe.

Ankle booties and ripped skinny jeans are the perfect companions for an on-the-go look this season! Complete the look with a crochet lace Ryu top and festival hat.

You can also pair a mini dress, like this striped dress from Jack by BB Dakota, with a short pair of black ankle boots. Remember, keeping the hemline of your dress above the knee will help elongate your legs!

For an on-trend #ootd, style cutout ankle boots with a pair of olive green jeans! These ripped skinnies from Machine Jeans will not only add a tough-girl touch to your denim collection, but this color is the talk of everyone from fashion bloggers to style editors this season.

Spring Footwear Trends 2016

It’s finally February! If you ask me, that’s kinda sorta basically almost spring. With warmer temps on the horizon, most of the new shoes we’re seeing at Glik’s are good staples for transitioning seasons. Here are a few spring footwear styles you can bust out now and carry on wearing when the warmer weather comes.

City Classified Rex Suede Desert Wedges
SPRING-FOOTWEAR
This is literally the perfect wedge bootie for spring. Its neutral color will match almost any outfit that you wear.  These wedges will look great with a dressier look or worn with a more casual outfit. Style them with a dress for a night out or pair them with your favorite cuffed skinny jeans for a lunch date with your bestie.

Charles Albert Lace Up Ballet Flats

spring footwear

Raise your hand if you are tired of wearing boots.  I am definitely ready for a spring footwear overhaul.  This lace up ballet flat is a great transition shoe to take you from season to season.  They come in three colors: red, black and nude and are the must-have shoe of the season.  Wear these lace up flats with leggings, an oversized sweater, and jeans or your dressiest dress.  They are very affordable so if you can’t decide on a color, just buy by them all 😉
spring-footwear-trends
If lace up ballet flats are not for you, check out these ankle wrap flats from Soda Shoes.  This is an easy shoe to throw on and go.  They pair well with all your favorite spring dresses and skirts and they will also add a chic touch to a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans and statement tee.  I love a cute shoe that’s also super versatile!

Happy (almost) spring! And remember if life gives you lemons, sell them and buy shoes!

How to Style Boot Socks Two Ways

Boot Socks + Ankle Boots

boot cuffs

ankle boots

Typically, when I think of boot socks, I imagine pairing them with classic riding boots. However, I’ve seen a ton of fashion bloggers and Instagram stars wearing a pair scrunched down with ankle boots. So unexpected and so cute! The key to achieving this look is to find a pair of socks that aren’t too thick and can be pushed down a few inches above your boots.

Boot Socks + Riding Boots

riding boots

For a classic look, boot cuffs also look great with riding boots! The important thing to remember when styling your socks or boot cuffs with taller boots is to choose a pair that is long enough to peek above the top of the boot. This looks best with skinny jeans or leggings!

Thankfully, these adorable accessories are starting to hit gliks.com! If you’re looking for a little something extra to pair with your dresses, skinny jeans, and Piko sweaters this season, we’ve got you covered.

Once you grab a pair (or two), I’d love to hear how you style your boot socks! Are you stepping outside the box and wearing them with ankle boots? Or are you staying perfectly classy and pairing your boot socks with riding boots?

5 Must-Have Women’s Boots for Fall

Putting Our Fashion Boots Forward for Fall

It can be hard bidding farewell to those long, warm, sunny days of summer… Believe me, I’ve been painstakingly counting down the days until that estimated first frost hits and the idea of autumn is firmly rooted in my wardrobe. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of layering, but my first love has to be boots. I wear boots all year long, spring, summer, fall, and winter. I have a WHOLE storage bin that is solely dedicated to just my collection of boots. I will switch out certain styles from season to season and even retire some that are not currently trending so that I can use them another season. I own over the knee boots, under the knee boots, embroidered boots, embellished boots, boots with studs, vintage boots (my favorite), ankle boots, combat boots, boots with metal, boots with fabric, rain boots, boots that are filled with wear and tear, and my list goes on…

My point here is that boots are the highlight of fall for most fashion forward folks. We live, eat, breath, and occasionally sleep (dream) boots. We follow fashion magazines, online blogs, fashion sites, and can often be caught staring at the feet of everyone we meet when daydreaming about boots.

It’s an addiction, and I’m here to confess that I have an addiction to boots…

Now you tell me, can you imagine yourself all wrapped up in stylish love this fall as you sip coffee and relax in the warm love of you oversized aztec sweater while admiring your new pair of Rido Harness ankle boots from Very Volatile?

Outfit Inspiration:

Celebrities like Vanessa Hudgens, Blake Lively and even Miley Cyrus know exactly how to outfit a pair of thigh-high socks with boots. I am also a HUGE fan of the girls at Free People! I continually get lost for hours on their BLDG 25 blog.

We wore a pair of thigh-high socks with our Roxy Newton Crochet Combat Boot.

Boot Obsessed:

We had featured a few of our favorite boots for fall in our Pre-Fall Fashion Essentials You Can’t Live Without blog along with other cold weather must-have items.  I have to admit that Roxy has impressed me this Fall 2013 season with a wide range of boots that are too cute for words.

Very Volatile Shoes always seems to deliver just the right amount of country-couture meets street-chic, too!

The Budget Fashionista:

Okay, admittedly, I am DEFINITELY not a millionaire, I have no ‘black card’ (sadface) and this is just a wild guess, but I am not alone in this. Believe me, my heart goes out to each and every one of my sister friends who have to treat their dimes like dollars. #muchlove

Here’s the light at the end of this dark tunnel, see these boots? They’ve got some pretty awesome brass and buckle accenting and they’re only like $34.90. That’s not a bad price in the boot world. We carry plenty of fashion brands that are reasonably priced for that budget friendly fashionista.
