Glik's has teamed up with manufacturers in the Los Angeles Fashion district to provide you with fashionable clothing made in the USA. These domestic manufacturers have excellent designers and outstanding quality. Glik's buyers work closely to have the American-Made goods meet the needs of our customers. What is exciting is our "quick response" capability using factories in Los Angeles. Glik's first store openend in 1897 in downtown St. Louis. Today the fourth generation runs the business with help from their father, Joe Glik; 3rd generation. "The old saying 'what goes around, comes around' is true for Glik's," said Chairman Joe Glik, now 87 years old, and what has come around again is a demand for clothing made in America. From 1897 to about 1958 almost all goods were made in the USA. Then in the early 60's there was a shift toward imports and by 1988 most product sold was imported. Then in 2009 major change hit our women's business. A fellow retailer gave us a list of manufacturers that could make fashion in the USA. We started working with these domestic factories, and today most of our bestselling fashion apparel is made in the USA.
